Read&Write: Speak as I Type functionality

Speak as I Type is a great way to encourage writers of all ages and abilities to monitor their work while typing. This could be turned "off" or "on" all the time. Speak as I Type using the "read a word" setting will help students monitor their spelling. Speak as I Type using the "read a sentence" setting will help individuals listen to their grammar and remember punctuation. Individuals could include this as part of a writing assignment checklist!

1. Open "Read & Write."

2. Select the settings cog wheel from the tool bar.

3. Select the "Speech" option.

4. Select the box next to "Speak As I Type."
